Advocating for the voiceless
Meet Fred (tabby kitten pictured below) and Barney (white kitten pictured below), two adorable kittens who were brought to our clinic in dire straits. They were found abandoned, suffering from severe cat flu along with their sister who sadly, didn’t make it.
But Fred and Barney’s story is one of hope and resilience and we’re excited to share their story as it truly warms our hearts and showcases the dedication of our team.
These two kittens arrived at Berwick Clyde Vet on a Friday afternoon and were very unwell. They required around the clock care, something we knew was not possible if they were sent to the pound with no one to advocate for them. So, Dr. Kunal took these sweet kittens home over the weekend, providing them with the care they desperately needed. But it wasn’t just Dr. Kunal who went above and beyond – our incredible nurses also took turns caring for Fred and Barney, from the moment they arrived at the clinic to the day they left for their new adventure. They provided endless TLC, ensuring the kittens’ bellies were always full and their spirits were high, playing with them and showering them with their very first toys and soft beds. It was a team effort filled with early mornings and late nights, but seeing these little fighters overcome their battles made it all worthwhile.
While Fred showed remarkable improvement, Barney faced a more difficult road, requiring emergency eye surgery to remove a ruptured eye. Dr. Jess consulted with specialist eye vets and successfully performed the delicate procedure. It was a risky operation, but Barney’s fighting spirit and our team’s unwavering dedication paid off. Today, he’s bouncing back with newfound energy and joy!
Both kittens are now safe and thriving at a local cat rescue, where they’ll continue to heal and hopefully find their forever families soon. We’re so grateful for your continued support, which allows us to make a difference in the lives of animals like Fred and Barney. As our team says, “They brought so much joy to the whole team, and everyone is so proud of their immense strength and can’t wait to continue receiving updates and seeing their progress.”
It’s a reminder of why we love what we do!
