Jasmin never originally planned on becoming a veterinary nurse. Growing up, her dream career was actually zookeeping. However, after completing her Year 12 work experience placement at a veterinary clinic, she quickly discovered a passion for the industry and finished her VCAL studies early so she could begin working at the same clinic.
Since then, Jasmin has built a career focused on animal care, welfare and advocacy. She has a special interest in exotics and wildlife medicine, particularly native wildlife, and is passionate about making every patient’s experience as fear-free and stress-free as possible. She loves being able to advocate for animals when they cannot speak for themselves and has wanted to work with animals since she was just four years old. Inspired by wildlife presenters such as David Attenborough and Steve Backshall, Jasmin’s passion for animals continues to grow every day. While she adores all creatures, she has a particular soft spot for cats and large breed dogs.
Jasmin has been working as a veterinary nurse since 2021 and has previous experience working with wildlife through both work placement and weekend employment. She holds a Certificate II in Animal Studies, a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing, and a qualification in Wildlife Conservation. She has also volunteered in South Africa, where she worked alongside big cats, hyenas and a variety of game species.
At home, Jasmin lives with her mum, stepdad, three cats and five birds. Outside of work, she enjoys travelling, camping, attending music events and spending time with friends and family, especially her young nephew, who lives nearby and who she loves watching grow up.
