Introduction
From a young age, I’ve always had a special fondness for animals. Growing up in Singapore, I didn’t have many pets apart from a few hamsters and fish, but I was constantly begging my parents for more. I loved caring for the stray cats around our neighbourhood and walking my neighbour’s dog whenever I could. I knew early on that becoming a veterinarian was the only career path that truly felt right for me. Since Singapore doesn’t have a veterinary school, I worked hard to earn a place at Murdoch University in Perth, Australia. I still remember the day I received my acceptance letter — it was one of the happiest moments of my life.
My Passion, Purpose, and Motivation
I’ve always believed in giving a voice to the voiceless. What makes this profession so meaningful to me is the challenge of understanding what’s wrong with an animal that can’t tell us directly. Discovering the problem, treating it successfully, and seeing both the animal and their owner happy again is an incredibly rewarding experience. Helping to strengthen the human–animal bond is a true privilege, and being able to perform surgery to make a real, tangible difference is something I find deeply fulfilling.
At the moment, I’m particularly interested in medicine and anaesthesia, and I’m always keen to care for any Australian wildlife that comes my way.
Qualifications and Experience
I hold a Bachelor of Science / Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Murdoch University in Perth, Western Australia. After completing my studies, I made the move to Melbourne — drawn to its vibrant city life and the positive experiences I had during my final-year placements here.
My Family & Hobbies
Outside of work, I’m an avid rock climber, mainly focused on bouldering, and I train around five days a week. I also love spending time outdoors and exploring nature through outdoor climbs. At home, I share my space with Pyro, my mischievous Bengal cat who follows me everywhere like a shadow. I’m also a big fan of Melbourne’s coffee and café scene — and can never resist a good flat white!
